A process whereby a naked singularity (similar in this instance to a black hole) can arise from a nonsingular source is outlined with attention to discontinuities in the Kerr metric. It is shown that a positive to negative discontinuity exists when the effective potential of the equatorial circular geodesics are in the small range, and that stable circular orbits can exist with negative energy. Thus, decay into a black hole proceeds inexorably once the accretion mechanism has exceeded certain values, but a naked singularity progressively slows down after accretion through an equatorial disk. Thus, a transition from a naked singularity to a black hole may be possible.
