About a dozen counterelectrojet events both in the afternoon and in the morning hours were compared with interplanetary magnetic field data. It was noticed that in three to four cases there was an association between counterelectrojets and an excursion of B sub z from southward to northward. However, in other cases, no such association nor an association with the B sub z gradient from northward to southward was noticed. Thus no clear-cut relationship is indicated.
