The problem of central configuration is examined in terms of a classical three body problem, i.e., three bodies moving solely under the influence of gravity. Applications to the dynamics of an expanding universe are presented, with planar and spatial problems considered separately. The growth of the velocities of the particles of the system is discussed within the framework of Hamiltonian equations of motion.
