The Swedish sounding rocket program is described. The investigations relate to ionospheric and magnetospheric phenomena, plasma physics, and the atmosphere's composition at high latitude. Material experiments in zero-g have recently been added to the activities (Swedish experiments were flown on the first TEXUS rocket in December 1977). Plans also exist for launching an IR astronomical experiment on an attitude stabilized sounding rocket in 1980. Technical development in support of the scientific program resulted in a guidance system for reduction of impact dispersion, which enables launchings to very high altitudes and during severe wind conditions. Bilateral and other cooperative projects, in order to economize the sounding rocket activity, and to complement payloads with special experiments are emphasized.
