A photometric study of the southern open cluster IC 2488 is presented. A distance modulus V0-MV = 10.80±0.18 mag and a color excess E(B-V) = 0.26±0.02 are determined for the cluster by fitting the observed main sequence to an empirical isochrone by means of a previously developed computer code. The location of a concentration of presumed red giant stars in the color-magnitude diagrams in conjunction with the empirical isochrones are used to estimate an age of 1.0×108yr for the cluster. The cluster membership status of these red stars, along with a possible blue straggler and a nearby planetary nebula, are analyzed.
