In the course of a large slitless spectral survey for QSOs, fifteen broad-absorption-line quasar candidates (BAL QSOs) have been discovered. The survey covers a region of about 4 sq deg, and is complete to a limiting magnitude of m(B) = 20.5, and is relatively free of effects that might bias the discovery of BAL QSOs in the redshift range of about 0.1-3.2. About 9 percent of all the quasars in this sample exhibit the BAL phenomena. The frequency of BAL QSOs with z greater than 2 appears to be higher than for lower-redshift objects. However, the absolute-magnitude distribution of the BAL QSOs appears to be the same as that of the whole quasar sample. Details about these quasars are presented, as well as spectra of two non-BAL quasars with z greater than 3.2.
