Chemical fractionation effects are discussed in the context of a detailed numerical model which follows the spatial and temporal behavior of 23 species. Results are presented for purely gas-phase processes and for gas-grain coupled schemes, in and out of equilibrium. We discuss systematic effects relevant to interpretation of the available data, and conclude that both astration and chemical fractionation effects are required to explain the observations.
