The paper reports on 850-MHz interplanetary scintillation observations of 31 radio sources, 26 of which have had previous IPS measurements at 430 and/or 81.5 MHz. Most of the sources have steep radio spectra and therefore are probably double radio sources with compact components at the extremities of the lobes. A comparison of scintillation characteristics at three frequencies leads to the following results: (1) the observed scintillation indices tend to decrease with increasing frequency; (2) the angular diameters decrease with increasing frequency. This frequency dependence of the scintillation characteristics may be accounted for if the scintillating components consist of several compact subcomponents. Finally, the data indicate that the typical spectral-index difference between the scintillating and nonscintillating components is small, upper limits being of the order of 0.2 to 0.4.
