The large body of the available experimental data on the solar plasma, obtained by various versions of the radio occultation method, are analyzed in a comprehensive manner. Particular attention is given to the study of the transition region of solar wind. It is shown that the process of solar wind acceleration is characterized by a stably reproducible set of interrelated changes in the medium parameters with increasing distance from the sun.
