The attenuation of hard gamma-ray synchrotron radiation from gamma-ray burst sources by single-photon pair production and photon splitting in strong magnetic fields is considered. The distribution of photons over a variety of angles of propagation with respect to the field lines is included, and the anisotropy of the radiating electrons is also considered. Photons moving in directions closer to the field lines can escape from the magnetosphere at higher energies. The resulting spectra are superpositions of the truncated power laws that occur for power-law particle distributions and a single photon direction. These spectra are broken power laws, with the turnover occurring in the soft gamma-ray region. The break in spectral index is of the order of two plus half the power-law index of the particle distribution, and is therefore not a spectral truncation. The high-energy portion of the spectrum is flattened for anisotropic particle distributions that are peaked in the direction of the field lines.
