It is shown that, among the various nuclear reactions that can occur in the region of a solar flare, one of the most effective is the reaction between heavy nuclei. Owing to this reaction, solar cosmic rays should contain radioactive nuclei, L-group nuclei, and other elements that are rare in the sun. Thus, synthesis reactions should play an important role in the production of various isotopes in solar cosmic rays at different phases of a solar flare. Along with fragmentation reactions, synthesis reactions determine the formation of the nuclear and isotope composition of solar cosmic rays of various energies
