Scientific paper
Shape indexes, defined as the ratio of greatest to smallest diameter, are determined for iron and stony meteorites. Measurements were made for 2647 individual specimens of the Sikhote-Alin iron meteorite shower as a function of specimen mass, and for 111 specimens of stony meteorites including those of the Krymka and Pervomaiskii Poselok showers. Mean values of 2.4 and 1.6 are obtained for the iron and stony meteorites, respectively.
