The structure and properties of jets in radio galaxies are studied in order to explain the processes of energy transport in these galaxies as well as the activity of galactic nuclei. Several hypotheses for the jet-like formations are discussed, after which it is postulated that their formation is due to the successive ejection, from the nucleus of the galaxy, of objects which move with nonrelativistic velocities and are sources of relativistic electrons. Based on this assumption, the distribution of the optical and radio brightness along the jets, as well as the existence of bends is discussed. The magnetic field and the energy of the optical and radio electrons are estimated for jets in NGC 6125 and M 87.
