We present a method for determining the instantaneous mass-loss rate from a forming star using observations of the fine-structure [OI] (63microns) line (Hollenbach 1985), and compare it to the CO method for determining mass-loss rates. In addition we present observations of three young outflows, VLA 1623 and IRAS 16293-2422, located in the rho Oph star-forming cloud, and L1448, located in the NGC 1333 star-forming cloud, and determine mass-loss rates for these three outflows.
