Simultaneous multifrequency observations of 3C 279 extending from the radio to the gamma ray range are presented. These are part of an extensive campaign coordinated with the GRO pointing of 3C 279 from mid-December 1992 to mid-January 1993, when 3C 279 was in a low state. A comparison with previous simultaneous observations obtained in 1991 shows that above 10(14) Hz where the frequency coverage is good, the source faded in all bands. The largest variation occurred in the gamma ray flux, supporting inverse Compton models for the gamma ray production.
