The BAT instrument on the Swift gamma-ray burst mission has been used
to perform a sensitive all-sky survey of hard X-ray sources. The wide
field of view coded aperture and the Swift observing program permit
BAT to image a significant portion of the sky each day, and over a 15
month duration, the entire sky is covered to depth of 1--3
megaseconds. In a blind search, the BAT detects a significant number
of galactic hard X-ray sources in the 14--200 keV band. As might be
expected, a large number of sources are X-ray binaries ($\sim$ 35
high-mass X-ray binaries; $\sim$63 low-mass X-ray binaries), with
about 10 black hole systems. Six isolated pulsars are detected, two
being anomalous X-ray pulsars. Three supernova remnants are well
detected: SNR G27.4+00.0, SNR G21.5-00.9, and Cas A. About twenty
accreting white dwarf stars have been detected, including about eight
DQ Her-type systems and several symbiotic stars. Finally, there are
about forty as-yet unclassified low-latitude BAT-detected sources,
which in some cases are also detected by INTEGRAL or RXTE as well. In
addition to imaging, detailed light curves can be made for each source
in four bands, in order to identify transient behavior and spectral
changes. Similar techniques are used by Krimm et al. (this
conference) to monitor for new transients with BAT. Thus, the BAT
provides a rich sample of hard X-ray behaviors in the galaxy.
