We present optical and X-ray spectra of the z=2.5 QSO HS1603+3820. This quasar has a very rich, complex heavy-element absorption spectrum. Several absorption systems are associated with the quasar, and some of them show rather unusual ionic ratios. We use photoionization codes CLOUDY and TITAN to derive total column and volume densities in the associated absorbers, based on constraints from the optical spectra. We find the total column density N=2x1022 cm-2 and high volume density n=1010 cm-3, consistent with previous estimates for intrinsic absorbers in NLS1 galaxies.
