We report the new discovery from the GALEX UV data that nearly half of the bright elliptical galaxies had recent star formation. This result is difficult to reconcile with varied versions of monolithic formation scenarios but in reasonable agreement with the recent hierarchical models that include AGN feedback. We present a theory where AGN-induced galactic wind is the main SF regulator.
