Test Case 4 is possibly foreseen to include, among others, the numerical rebuilding of FIRE II; this paper will report on the work which has been performed so far in support of the preparation of the booklet. This paper will include the description of the FIRE II vehicle and its mission, particularly focusing on the locations of experimental sensors and on the data they provided in terms of nature and quality. Besides a literature review on the numerical rebuilding activities already performed will be presented, highlighting difficulties encountered and results obtained. Furthermore, some selected test case conditions will be proposed and this choice justified according to the literature review and the availability of experimental data. The results of a rebuilding activity carried out at ESA ESTEC will be presented; a set of chemical reactions containing nitrogen and oxygen has been tested under two different assumptions, namely two-temperature and three-temperature model. The effect of these models on the radiative spectra and heat fluxes has been evaluated.
