Shock acceleration in young SNRs will be highly efficient and nonlinear and these nonlinearities will result in particle spectra which deviate significantly from power laws. We use a Sedov scaling solution for SNR expansions coupled with a Monte Carlo model of diffusive shock acceleration to calculate the shock structure and particle spectra at all energies as the remnant evolves. Our acceleration model includes multiple ion species (treated self-consistently) and a simple description of electron injection and acceleration. Using these spectra, we produce broad-band photon spectra from pion-decay, bremsstrahlung, inverse Compton, and synchrotron emission. We give a brief review of the basic physical processes behind efficient shock acceleration and discuss how various SNR parameters influence the resulting photon and cosmic ray spectra.
