The small sample of identified gamma-ray pulsars is obviously strongly biased to high luminosity and young age because of the instrumental limitations. So would be any sample of pulsars to be seen by EGRET at distances of a few kiloparsecs, i.e. close to the bright Galactic plane. The spatial distribution of 20 to 40 EGRET unidentified sources off the plane appears to be consistent with their origin in the Gould Belt, the well-known nearby structure of enhanced massive-star formation, therefore of enhanced supernova rate. The interpretation of these sources in terms of gamma-ray pulsars and the implications on their luminosity and age distribution, proper motion and gamma-ray efficiency will be discussed.
