Cosmos-426 data on electron fluxes at energies ranging from 20 keV to greater than 2 MeV in the breakup region of the magnetosphere are presented and analyzed. Among other findings, it is shown that the rigidity of the energy spectrum increases toward the radiation-belt boundary. The unusual behavior of the spectrum of energetic electrons in the breakup region may be connected with an increase in the fluxes of such electrons at low altitudes as a result of a lowering of specular points of particle reflection, so that particle fluxes from the equatorial region are redistributed.
