Extinction by interstellar dust at infrared wavelengths is reviewed. For wavelengths between 0.7 and 7 microns the observed extinction, both in the Galaxy and in the Magellanic clouds, appears to be consistent with a power law (Alambda proportional to lambda to the power of minus 1.75). In the 8 to 30 microns region interstellar extinction is dominated by the 9.7 microns and 18 microns silicate features; the absolute strength, the detailed wavelength-dependence of these features, and the possible variation of the profile shape from diffuse clouds to dense clouds, all remain controversial. In the far-infrared, grain emissivity estimates by different authors vary considerably.
