The spectra of T Tauri stars show blueshifted, sometimes two-peaked forbidden emission-line profiles. These lines indicate the presence of an extended, cool stellar wind, and the possible existence of a disk which obscures the redshifted hemisphere of the stellar wind. Models of a hemispherical wind (the other hemisphere being obscured by the disk), however, do not predict line profiles in agreement with the observational results. Kinematic stellar wind models show that in order to obtain a good agreement with the observed line profiles it is necessary to assume a more complex morphology for the outflow. Simplified calculations of latitude-dependent, nonadiabatic stellar winds are conducted. These models provide predictions of line profiles, and of the dependence of the line profiles on the excitation (and ionization) of the spectral line and on the wind parameters. Future comparisons with observations should clarify the possible validity of these models.
