Many eclipsing binary systems display a gradual turning of the apsidal line of their orbit; in most cases this effect is considered to arise from distortions in one or both components due to tidal interaction between the stars or due to their rotation. In the present paper, it is shown that the discrepancy between the observed and computed turning rates of the apsidal lines in certain binary systems can be removed by assuming that one or both components has its rotation axis inclined to the orbit plane. Results are presented for the DI Her system.
