Scientific paper
Research in solar and space plasma physics; the solar system; the life cycle of stars; the interstellar medium; active galactic nuclei and quasars; and laboratory astrophysics is summarized. Solar flares; plasmas in interplanetary space; solar wind magnetosphere interactions; electrodynamic coupling of magnetosphere and ionosphere; equatorial ionosphere; and active plasma experiments are discussed. Infrared observations of planetary atmospheres; planet formation; star formation; X-ray emission from main sequence stars; cataclysmic variables; X-ray binaries; neutron stars; supernova remnants; local interstellar medium; molecular clouds; the galactic center and halo; high-resolution molecular spectroscopy in the vacuum UV; transition probabilities of faint lines; and determination of accurate potential energy curves are treated.
