The question of whether the overdensity of galaxies around high-redshift quasars can be explained by gravitational lensing is addressed. A model is presented which neglects the effects of finite source size and the influence of galaxy-galaxy clustering on the expected galaxy density near quasars. The results suggest that lensing can lead to a significant overdensity of galaxies around high-redshift quasars. Possible modification of the simplified model, including the expected influence of galaxy-galaxy clustering, is discussed.
