As is well known, the astronomical determination of the mass of the Moon
has so far been accomplished by methods based on the observation of the
terrestrial nutation of the motion of the centre of the Earth around the
centre of mass of the Earth-Moon system, and from the perturbation of
the asteroid Eros.
