It is shown that the interplanetary magnetic field has a significant effect on the balance of forces in the daytime magnetopause; this is the case for a negative Bz component. The ratio of magnetic to thermal pressure at the subsolar point is 0.5, and the observed field in the magnetosphere at the neutral line is smaller than the field of the transition region. Attention is also given to the influence of the DR current on the pressure balance in the magnetopause.
