The radio spectra of eight QSOs which redshifted Mg II gamma gamma 2795, 2902 absorption characteristics in their spectra were analyzed for 21 cm absorption at the identical redshift as the optical lines. It was shown that the maximum neutral-hydrogen column densities through the absorbing regions are usually below 5 x 10 to the 18th of the spin temperature. These data are consistent with the simple H I region models of the absorbing clouds; several orders of magnitude greater limiting depth may be required to detect the H I absorption lines in these systems.
