Photographic surface isophotometry of NGC 3379 gives an ellipticity curve from r = 17 to 184 arcsec, with a mean value of epsilon = 0.15 + or - 0.04. The orientation angle derived in these studies varies from 76 deg for r less than 60 and 93 deg for r greater than 60. These data are compared with the values found by de Vaucouleurs and Capaccioli (1979) for this standard galaxy, as well as with data from several other sources. The comparison shows that these parameters are still quite uncertain, with a formal mean standard deviation of + or 0.05 in epsilon, based on 155 values, and of + or - 12 deg in theta, based on 106 values. The means from all sources are epsilon = 0.13 and theta = 73 deg.
