Intensity variations of the neutron component of cosmic rays are examined for the period just before the earth encounters a high-velocity stream (HVS) of the solar wind of nonflare origin. A statistical analysis of data for a number of HVSs during 1973-1974 shows that an increase in cosmic-ray intensity of about 0.4 percent is observed just before the HVS encounters the earth.
