The halo-type radio sources found in certain clusters of galaxies are modeled by assuming that the extended radio structure near the cluster center consists of remnant radio galaxies - objects wherein the parent galaxy has become inactive. The radio clouds would be restrained from expanding by the thermal pressure of the hot intracluster gas, so that their radio emission would evolve mainly through synchrotron and inverse Compton losses. Quantitative assessments are made and are supplemented by computer simulations, whose results fit the observational evidence reasonably well. This model implies that cluster radio halos should have certain properties which future observations may confirm.
