Using the basic conservation laws of momentum, angular momentum and energy the authors have calculated the interaction and evolution of disk-galaxies of finite size in small groups. With these calculations they find the following: (1) The increased rate of collisions leads to repeated bursts of star formation in galaxies. (2) During gas exchange very often both galaxies gain gas in their centers and lose gas in their outer parts, thus leading to the possibility of feeding an active nucleus. (3) The relaxation time of the galaxy system is drastically shortened by substantial gas exchange between galaxies; this then increases the probability of further collisions and mergers and so it becomes more likely that large galaxies form.
