Isotropization mechanisms for a beam of low-energy (10-100 keV) protons in the H α formation region are considered. An increase in the magnetic field strength is shown to have no significant effect on the pitch-angle distribution of the accelerated particles in the solar chromosphere. The excitation of small-scale Alfvén waves by protons can lead to their effective scattering. The results obtained are used to interpret peculiarities of the impact polarization of the H α emission.
