Most recent Cassini observations by the Imaging Science Subsystem Team showed that the third largest Saturnian satellite, Iapetus, has a curious ridge system nearly aligned with its equator. It is proposed that this large-scale geological structure might be related to the collisional accretion of a residual ring system subsequent to the formation of the proto-Iapetus.
