The results of a plastic-scintillator search for the massive nonrelativistic magnetic monopoles predicted by GUT cosmology are presented. The detector comprises a single PS-10 slab of thickness 7.6 cm and area 2.8 sq m viewed by 52 photomultiplier tubes with a system characteristic anode-signal width of about 40 nsec, as compared to a detector traverse time of about 250 nsec for a monopole traveling at 0.001 times the speed of light. After 2830 h of operation at sea level, none of the approximately 10 to the 6th events/h detected has been identified as a monopole event, so that a limit of on 1-sigma upper limit of 5.6 x 10 to the -13th/sq cm sr sec is established.
