Ionospheric irregularities in the equatorial topside ionosphere are reviewed with attention to results from topside sounders, direct measurements satellites, and the Jicamarca incoherent scatter radar. Data on ducting and on spread-F aspect-sensitive scattering are discussed. Satellite measurements are considered; these data show that irregularities occur more frequently and with larger amplitude near the equator and that there is a correlation between the occurrence of Fe+ and equatorial irregularities. The relation, if any, between ducts and equatorial spread-F is considered.
