Improved values for the parameters of a model in which the Galactic magnetic field has a random component are derived by analyzing observational data on the Faraday rotation of 242 extragalactic sources. Different forms for the two-point correlation function are considered on the assumption that there is a correlation between fluctuations in electron density and in magnetic-field strength. The observed rotation measures for the 242 sources are examined, the basic equations for the model used to interpret the data are presented, and an analysis is performed in the framework of a uniform-disk representation of the Galaxy. Results are obtained which indicate reasonable agreement between theory and observations for an average Galactic magnetic field of approximately 3 microgauss, a fluctuating magnetic-field component with an amplitude of about 2.6 microgauss, an average electron density of roughly 0.03 per cu cm, a fluctuating density component of the order of 0.05 per cu cm, and a correlation length of approximately 300 pc.
