The energy spectra of solar protons were obtained in the range from 100 MeV to several GeV on the basis of joint analysis of stratospheric and neutron-monitor measurements. The most powerful events of 1976-1982 were found occurring during the increasing and declining phases of the solar activity cycle. In the event of October 12, 1981, an additional source of fast particles seems to be available.
