The spectroscopic metal abundance parameter A S has been measured for RR Lyrae stars in the globular clusters NGC 6712 and NGC 6723. Mean ΔS values are 2.6±0.4 for NGC 6712 and 2.8±0.5 for NGC 6723, corresponding to [Fe/H] ∼-0.7 on Butler's abundance scale. This iron abundance is considerably higher than those found for 47 Tuc and M7l in recent analyses of high dispersion spectra of red giant stars.
