We describe a method of determining and correcting baselines of individual scans in an observed map of an extended radio source. Initial baselines are determined by selecting only those data of a single scan which lie closest to a straight line. A correction of these initial baselines is achieved by comparing different scans. This requires having scanned the source in two perpendicular directions. The baselines are adjusted such that the differences of the data at the cross-over points between perpendicular scans are minimized over the whole map using the method of least squares.
