It has been suggested that the Brasilian anomaly, a region of increased intensity of charged particles at 200-500 km over the Brasilian magnetic anomaly, is a negative global anomaly rather than the effect of local conditions. An experimental study is reported here whose objective was to verify the global character of the Brasilian anomaly by measuring its time-dependent drift and comparing it with the drift of the magnetic field of the earth. In general, the results of the study confirm the global nature of the Brasilian anomaly.
