The Observatorio Astrofísico de Javalambre is a new observatory forprofessional astronomy under construction at the Sierra de Javalambre (Teruel,Spain). The observatory is mainly defined for carrying out large scale surveysin robotic mode. For this purpose there will be two main telescopes: T250, alarge étendue telescope of 2.5 m aperture and 3 deg diameter field ofview, and T80, a 0.8 m auxiliary telescope with a field of view diameter of2 deg. The immediate objective of the T250 is to carry out the Javalambre-PAUAstrophysical Survey, a photometric survey of 8000 square degrees using 42narrow-band filters (˜ 100-120 Å width) in the optical spectralrange. T80 will be mainly devoted to perform photometric calibrations for thesurvey. The two telescopes will hold panoramic cameras of large format (˜10k x 10k) CCDs located in convergent beam at their respectiveCassegrain focii.
