Blazars, Variability

Scientific paper

Optical observations of Blazars have been ongoing since the discovery of this class of Active Galactic Nuclei. Understanding the relationship between the optical variability and variations at other wavelengths provides important tests of theories of the emission mechanism at work in these objects. Such studies require well sampled light curves, which are a challenge to obtain at optical wavelengths. I will describe the progress we have made as a community in obtaining well sampled optical light curves and mention prospects for the future.
