Published data on the H II region distributions in 65 galaxies (Hodge and Kennicutt, 1983) are used to test the commonly quoted observation that the largest star-forming regions in galaxies preferentially occur in the outer disk. Although a few nearby and well-studied galaxies do exhibit this effect, simple statistical tests indicate that in general there is no significant difference between the radial locations of the large star-forming regions and the general disk population. It is suggested that radially varying parameters such as metal abundance and dust content may not be the key parameters influencing the number and size of star-forming regions in a galaxy.
