Exobiology: Mars
Scientific paper
Exobiology on Mars is a field of increasing scientific interest. Since 1996 ESA has supported scientific and technical studies which finally aimed at creating an exobiology research facility to conduct in situ experiments on Mars. A preliminary instrument selection has been established, a facility concept and critical subsystems have been studied. The project can profit to a great extent from the heritage of instrument developments for other space missions.
