Scientific paper

Problems in space physics and astrophysical instrumentation are discussed in observational, theoretical, and technical reviews and reports. Topics examined include Forbush decreases not associated with solar flares, detection of solar neutrons by ground-based instruments, an oscillating capacity electrometer for space applications, radiation transfer in dense interstellar clouds, spectra and luminosities of gamma-ray bursts, the temperature of alpha particles and heavy ions in the solar wind, and IR spectrophotometry of circumstellar dust shells. Consideration is given to IR observations of the CO band in globular and open clusters, a large-area phoswich balloon experiment for hard-X-ray astronomy, and X-ray emission from magnetically dominated non-Keplerian accretion disks.
