We describe attempts, in the last 15 years, to employ AGB stars, more specifically, carbon stars, as kinematic probes to better understand the dynamics of Local Group galaxies. Carbon stars have been successfully used to investigate the dynamics of the Sgr dwarf spheroidal orbital debris, the LMC, the SMC, and NGC 6822. Because accurate radial velocities of C stars in most Local Group galaxies require 8- to 10-m telescopes, further progress will be slow. Observations of the Milky Way outer-disk C stars look, however, a promising approach to extend its rotation curve and require a modest telescope effort.
