The accuracy of the photographic zenith tube at the Tianjin Latitude Station of Beijing Observatory is investigated by analyzing 149 effective plates (2438 stars in 374 groups, of which 45 percent are complete) obtained during 1979-1980 and 225 plates (4024 stars in 602 groups, 51 percent complete) obtained during 1981-1983. The results are presented in tables and graphs, and the single-star errors are found to be + or 0.144 arcsec in phi and + or - 13.0 msec in mu for the first set of plates and + or - 0.152 arcsec in phi and + or - 14.6 msec in mu for the second set of plates. Consideration is given to the errors introduced by the temperature effect on the plate scale and the pressure-induced nonparallelism of the window surfaces, and corrections to individual star positions are provided.
